Vision & Core Values
The Urban Assembly Institute of Math and Science for Young Women (UAI) is an all-girls public school serving grades 6–12, located in the heart of Downtown Brooklyn. At UAI, our vision is rooted in social justice, equity, and access, ensuring every student has the opportunity to thrive.
Despite STEM fields offering some of the highest-paying careers in the United States, women—particularly Black and Brown women—represent less than 20% of the STEM workforce. At UAI, we are committed to changing this landscape.
Through a deeply personalized and supportive community, our students are encouraged to explore their passions, embrace challenges, and take intellectual risks in a safe environment. UAI nurtures the next generation of confident, civic-minded, and accomplished young women.
We foster a collaborative and inclusive learning environment that values intellectual diversity, prepares students for the demands of college and career, and inspires active engagement in their communities.
Graduates of UAI leave with the skills, confidence, and courage to break through glass ceilings and challenge racial and gender stereotypes—poised to make an impact in STEM and beyond.
