UAI has a partnership with NYU Tandon School of Engineering where each semester, a cohort of Juniors are able to participate in a pre-engineering course on NYU’s Brooklyn campus. Through this rigorous program, UAI students learn how to code and build a robot, as well as gain experience as a college student for a semester.U

Through UAI’s partnership with College Now at City Tech, our 11th and 12th grade students are offered the opportunity to enroll in college credit-bearing courses for no cost. These courses are designed to improve academic achievement of UAI students and prepare them for the rigor of college.

The Urban Assembly is a school network of 22 college and career focused small schools located in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Our school network supports us with:

  • Developing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) courses that assist sixth and ninth graders with the transition to middle and high school
  • Expanding College Access to all our students, connecting our students with opportunities at colleges and universities around the country
  • Developing our staff leaders to utilize innovative, data driven and research based methods to drive student success
  • Offering our students extracurricular career and mentorship opportunities

As a New York City Department of Education Affinity School, UAI is lucky to receive the support of our Affinity Group, including:

  • leadership development and coaching;
  • data analysis and development of cutting-edge, school-specific data tools;
  • practitioner networks;
  • direct operational support (budgeting, scheduling, programming);
  • policy analysis and research capability;
  • technical and compliance support;
  • opportunities to participate in innovation projects.
